We woke up this morning and ate a modest breakfast of apples and oatmeal. Camping next to us was a lovely couple who were also on a bike trip. We were on the rode by 9:30, a little late for us, and headed across the bridge into Vermont. We took pictures at the crest of the bridge, a foot in New York and a foot in Vermont. The view was incredible. At the bottom of the bridge we stopped at the “Welcome to Vermont” sign and took pictures with it. We all took turns jumping in front of it, resulting in some great action shots! The Vermont sign fun brightened everyone’s day, and the mood was much lighter from then on. We biked a very hilly route to Middlebury, and ate lunch at the college. The beautiful campus was in the middle of a language immersion program, of Spanish and Arabic, which was very cool to see. We then headed out to Vergennes, and sped as fast as we could the last six miles to make it to a furniture store / café that closed at five. We all had delicious drinks and the mood was lifted yet again. We stopped at the grocery store, picked up our “dinner” supplies and then continued to our campsite in Button Bay. The cooking crew then began furiously preparing plain, blueberry, chocolate chip and banana pancakes, spinach-feta-cheddar omelettes, hash browns, sausages, AND fake bacon for Gabby. A feast! The campsite was beautiful, and we got to bed as quickly as we could.
