It was an adventurous, wet and wild day today. With 12 mph head winds and rain from start to end of the day, the group pushed through and made the most of a difficult 50-mile ride to Toledo! After a 20 mile early day ride, we stopped at a Subway for lunch and made friends with the employees who made our sandwiches! They couldn’t believe we were biking all the way to NYC so we got their address to send them a postcard for proof. After more rain and a tree covered rail trail, we finally entered Toledo and celebrated the accomplishment of traveling from one Great Lake to the next and overcoming our first adverse weather day! In the end the group thought the rain ride was a wild and fun experience. And it was especially nice to end the day with hot showers, Dominos pizza and a comfy hotel bed. Tomorrow is Trekker Ruby’s birthday, so we will be celebrating even more tomorrow!
