The Walkway and RDR House were Highlights for NY-Burlington Trekkers

Today we started off our day with a luxurious breakfast at the Hampton Inn, eating everything from waffles and oatmeal to bananas. We got out on the road at around 9:15, and were quickly off to a good start, with Navarro and Gabe leading the way (our ‘points’ for the day). The road was pretty flat throughout, which was a great reprieve from yesterday’s hills and mountains. An hour or two into the day, we crossed the Hudson Walkway, which had really nice views. After that, we visited Hannafords to pick up lunch (Turkey, cheese, and lettuce wraps), and we had a very specific debate about whether Lays Dill Pickle chips were better, or Cape Cod Cracked Pepper with a Hint of Lemon chips were better. Cape Cod won in the end 5 votes to 3.

Finally, our last stop on today’s ride was the FDR museum, where we learned about how Vermont and Maine absolutely ‘adored’ FDR, and about how Eleanor Roosevelt was an incredible First Lady. 2 hours and few hills later, we had all of our tents set up, and had a pasta dinner, and now we are about to finish our day with our highs, lows, grows, and shoutouts!
