In a week’s span we’ve gone from strangers to friends, drinking in hundreds of miles of scenic countryside, from the primal coast of Oregon through the lush Columbia Gorge, then spat out into the barren, blistering badlands, gaining daily mileage all the while.
Today we posted our second consecutive 80+mile day, overcoming sparse water to carve our way to Walla Walla, which has acted as our first point of pilgrimage. We pushed hard and worked together to scarce up water from locals, who have not let us down.
Having earned a respite after many personal bests of mileage, we opted to book a hotel in preparation for a rest day. Tomorrow we will relax and handle the myriad logistical affairs that accompany a caravan of our number; mailing home extra weighty objects, doing laundry, eating a metric ton, and tuning the bikes back up. Maybe some mini golf?
Find out tomorrow in our next installment!
