New Friends, Good Food and The Longest Hill in America, NYM Enjoy 4th of July Together

We woke up this morning to the sound of rain and each others groans. “Who knew rain had so much water?! “- Trekker Cooper. Immediately after we packed up our tents, the sky cleared and it was a beautiful day. On a detour due to bridge closure, we stumbled upon a July 4th parade which was very pleasant. We stopped at a deli to get some heavenly sandwiches and ended up meeting a few new friends! Including a kid named Chase who was very nice and bought us a bottle of cold water. A few others stopped and asked us about our journey and engaged in friendly conversations! After many minutes and many sandwiches, we went back on the road for more biking. We then tackled what felt like the longest hill in America, stopped at a gas station with a very nice Dunkin’ worker who gave us all free water. After going through a tunnel, one of our trekkers got a flat tire and we stopped to change it. Hoping all of our biggest challenges were behind us, we headed back out on the road for our last 10 miles of the day. We reached the much awaited hotel and jumped into the pool as fast as possible. We wrapped up our day with several pizzas, cookies, and Italian ices, and headed back to our rooms for the night.
