Cape Cod Trekkers Have an Amazing Day in P-town

Posted Posted in 2017

This morning we woke up at Dunes Edge Campground in Provincetown and began our day with the Provincetown Trail! It was a beautiful ride through the Dunes after which we enjoyed an amazing lunch of burgers and veggie wraps. After waiting for the brief storm to pass we rode over to the Pilgrim Monument in which we climbed the 107 stairs to the very top and had an amazing view of Provincetown. After some shopping on commercial street we headed back to our campsite and made pasta with tomato sauce. All and all we had an amazing day exploring P-Town and are excited for the ferry to Boston tomorrow.

NY-Montreal Trekkers Devour a Vermonster

Posted Posted in 2017

The 33 mile day today was a breeze! We left our campsite in Vergennes at 9, then had a quick but hilly ride up the Lake Champlain bike route toward Burlington. After getting lunch and setting up camp at North Beach state park, we headed back into town. The Trekkers explored church street for an hour, then we regrouped to hit Vermont’s favorite ice cream store, Ben and Jerry’s. We split a Vermonster (20 scoops of ice cream, with hot fudge and toppings) 10 ways. It took about 20 minutes to make, and 5 to finish!

Cape Cod Trekkers are at the Tip

Posted Posted in 2017

This morning we woke up and biked to Home Port Restaurant (again!!) and ate a delicious breakfast! We then biked the whole Cape Cod Rail Trail. That took a while! Then a thunderstorm came and we were stuck in the bathroom at the beach for nearly an hour! Finally, a lil soaked we made our way the final 10 miles to our campsite at Dunes Edge Campground in Provincetown! Before we got to the camp ground we ate a little snack at a store and bought a pint of ice cream. After we finished eating we rode to the campsite and laid down and chilled while the cooking crew made mac & cheese. We finished the night with an (in-tents) game of cards and now we are going to go to bed!

Cape Cod Trekkers Explore Brewster Area

Posted Posted in 2017

This morning we woke up and decided to take an interesting short cut on a mountain biking trail to get out of Nickerson State park in Brewster, MA, which proved to be harder but more fun on road bikes! Once out of the forest we rode to a delicious diner for breakfast! Almost all of the boys got breakfast burgers while the rest of us got French toast and pancakes! Then we rode to the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History and explored the Cape Cod Bay in which Nielsen and Austin got stranded on the sand bar. After Austin and Nielsen made the three feet journey back to shore we made an excursion to 7-Eleven for free slurpy day!! Finally we headed back to camp and sat around a roaring fire while munching on smores. We’re all going to go to bed early tonight as we have a big day of 30 miles to Provincetown tomorrow!
 Stay tuned

Posted Posted in 2017

Our day started this morning with a light breakfast, then a short ride to the Lake George Steamship Company, which was right across the street from our camp site. We boarded the Mohecan with our bikes, then set sail on the 32 mile trip up the glacial lake toward Ticonderoga. After we reached shore, we began a 28 mile ride North, which brought us over the new Champlain Bridge into the state of Vermont. After another 10 miles, we arrived  at our campsite at Button Bay State Park  Food group C made a delicious dinner of homemade buffalo chicken Mac and cheese, and banana boats for dessert. Tomorrow we will get an early start, to spend some time exploring Burlington.

NY-Montreal Trekkers Enjoy Lake George

Posted Posted in 2017

After the big ride yesterday, our 18 mile ride up the Warren County Bikeway felt like a breeze! In the morning, we met another Teen Treks trip leader Sasha, and she joined us for the ride. After a stop at a bike shop for new inner tubes, we reached Lake George and took a relaxing swim. Then, we decided to use some of our activity funds and go stand up paddle boarding for an hour! It was a beautiful way to enjoy the mountain scenery and the keep cool in the summer sun. Later, we quickly polished off two quarts of ice cream, and cooked burgers and hot dogs over a charcoal fire. After dinner, we went back into Lake George to play some games at an arcade and listen to street musicians. Tomorrow, we traverse Lake George via steamship, and cross into Vermont.

Cape Cod Trekkers Ride a Beautiful Rail-to Trail

Posted Posted in 2017

This morning we woke up and biked to a bike shop to fix some loose ends on several bikes. After several bike computers finally began to work, we biked towards Brewster, MA. We made it ten miles and stopped for a snack at a park with a lovely view of the water, and we came up with some funny nature rating systems. We were all feeling great and ready to bike until Davis’ front tire again!!! Luckily there was a bike shop half a mile up the road and “hopefully” permanently fixed his flat problem with some protective gear. We made it to the start of the Cape Cod Rail Trail, ate a delicious lunch of mozzarella basil tomato sandwiches and biked another ten miles to our campground. In Nickerson state park, we got lost, had some shouting matches in the woods (“that way” “no that way!”) and smelled a lot of burning rubber after intense breaking and steep slopes. We FINALLY got to camp, made a fire , hot dogs and s’mores and went to sleep. –
