Across America Trekkers Still Experiencing the Vastness of Montana

Posted Posted in 2017

Today the Trekkers on the Across America trip biked 63 miles, traveling from Indian Creek, MT to Crow Agency, MT. They broke up the day with a long lunch break and a dip in the river in Crow Agency and got to bed after cooking grilled cheese with ham, tomato, and spinach, ready for an early morning and to get biking before the heat of the day sets in.

NY-Montreal Trekkers Easily Bike Half Century

Posted Posted in 2017

Today the new York to Montreal Trekkers easily sped through their half century ride. We choose a slightly longer and hillier route, but it lead us through scenic lake Saratoga and miles of rolling farmland with barely any cars. Despite a few flat tires, we arrived at our campsite in Moreau State Park with enough time to swim in the lake and to make a delicious dinner of breakfast burritos.

Pacific Northwest Trekkers Spend Their Last Day In Seattle

Posted Posted in 2017

Today was sadly our final day.  We decided to try to go on a sailboat ride, but we were too late, though we had a pleasant final bike ride in the attempt. We then went to Pikes place market where we split up into pairs and bought lunch. Then we headed to Occidental Park for some intense games of basketball, ping pong, and corn hole.  We headed back to the Hostel and packed up bikes.  We finished the day with a delicious taco dinner.  Tomorrow we may part our different ways but the trip was unforgettable.

Cape Cod Trekkers in Mid Cape

Posted Posted in 2017

Today we woke up at the hostel, ate breakfast, biked as fast as we could to Oak Bluffs and took the ferry to Hyannis. We all took naps on the ferry and enjoyed the view. When we got off the ferry we went to a nearby beach, hanging out near some cool rocks and played group games on the sand. Audrey hung out in the water and enjoyed the waves. We ate sandwiches that got too sandy and then biked to our hotel. We hung out at the hotel and chilled for what felt like three hours before biking into the downtown of Hyannis. We briefly took a detour to the Kennedy house compound , where we ran into a Nielson’s friend, which was quite surprising! We then got to a delicious restaurant where we ate what everyone agreed were some of the best burgers ever. The manager came over to talk to us and offered us free ice cream! Now we’re back off the hotel where we’ll chill at the hot tub before bed. –

Cape Cod Trekkers Enjoy a Beach Day on Martha’s Vineyard

Posted Posted in 2017

Today we woke up and Alexa was feeling under the weather, so while she rested everyone went to South Beach which was where Jaws was filmed. There were unfortunately no signs saying that jaws was filmed there. The waves were epic and it was foggy at first but cleared up and turned into a beautiful beach day. We went to Vineyard vHaven and bought t-shirts and stickers, and then moseyed back to the hostel to have leftover veggies and pasta Alfredo. Tomorrow we’ll be leaving Martha’s Vineyard very early so everyone plopped into bed before ten.

After Biking 450 Miles the Pacific Northwest Trekkers Return to Seattle

Posted Posted in 2017

Up and out faster than ever, racing through silent countryside, back to strip malls and suburbs. We caught an early ferry from Bainbridge and before we had time to blink, were enjoying a luxurious Vietnamese lunch in downtown Seattle. Exhausted and contented from the 450+ miles we rode over the last 2.5 weeks we rested, showered, and took a fascinating tour through underground areas from the 1800s. We ended the day with a very fancy Italian dinner and a game of poker. We’re excited to sleep in and explore the city, with out any place to be.

NY-Montreal Trekkers Have A Relaxing Day In Albany

Posted Posted in 2017

The plan today was to go to a movie to avoid the morning rain. Unfortunately, we timed that a bit too late and got caught in a massive cloudburst on the way to the theater. We found refuge under at a car dealership for a few minutes, then bought some dry T shirts to wear in the movie. Today was Lola’s 16th birthday, so she chose to see the new Spiderman movie! After we had left the theater, Lola realized the key to her bike lock was missing. Fortunately, the lock was only attached to the wheels of Lola and Ileana’s bike, so we spent the next few hours removing spokes to get the lock detached! The first five were easy, but the last spoke needed a bit more torque, so Asa and Jonah used a display wrench at Sears to get it off.
When we were finally back on two wheels, we got dinner at Albany’s own Ted’s Fish Fry (the group has become obsessed with the jingle, and they performed their rendition to the servers) After getting our fill of greasy fried seafood, we returned to the hotel for an early night in preparation for our 50 mile ride tomorrow.

NY-Montreal Trekkers Spend the Day Exploring the Capital

Posted Posted in 2017

Today we had an easy 20 mile ride to Albany, the capital of the state of New York, which we finished by 11:30 in the morning. With this extra afternoon of free time, we ate a leisurely lunch on the lawn in front of the New York State Museum, then visited the many interesting exhibits that the museum had to offer. After the museum, we returned to our hotel (a welcome respite from camping) to do some laundry and take a siesta before making dinner. Tonight, we cooked quesadillas in a park overlooking the Hudson River, which was right across the street from the hotel! After barely avoiding an oncoming rain shower, we came back to the hotel to swim in the pool and have an ice cream bar. Tomorrow, we will be exploring the city of Albany and enjoying a rest day, before we embark on our longest day of the trip (50 miles!) on Sunday.
